Mission Statement

PHABIS exists so that there will be the highest quality of life possible for those persons in the regions of Peel and Halton whose lives have been touched by acquired brain injury.

Background of PHABIS

PHABIS is a non-profit charitable Ontario corporation that was incorporated in 1992. We are funded by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOH and LTC) to provide community based rehabilitation and re-integration services to people living with the effects of acquired brain injury.

PHABIS and the services it provides grew out of the advocacy efforts of the Head Injury Association of Peel and Halton in the 1980's.

How We Provide Services

All services offered through PHABIS are contractual in nature. PHABIS offers services to individuals and families based on an assessment of the individual's needs. When those needs can be met through the existing resources of PHABIS, a service contract - called an Individual Service Plan (ISP) - is developed. All members of the service team sign this contract and agree to support the individual client according to the goals and objectives outlined in the service plan.

We take a Team Approach to service planning, goal-setting, and evaluation. Therefore, the client and significant others are welcomed as members of the programmed planning process, along with our staff and other experts.
